Research Study

Shauna Doherty is conducting a research study entitled ‘Supporting Autistic Girls in the Education System: A Grounded Theory Study’. The purpose of this study is to understand the experiences of autistic girls in the post-primary school context and to explore the supports they identify as important in enabling them to be in school and to thrive in school.

North East Inner City Community Health Needs Assessment

Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland (RCSI) are conducting a Community Health Needs Assessment (HNA) in partnership with, and funded by, the North East Inner City Initiative. Emotions, Alexithymia and Theory of Mind. This study investigates how alexithymia, a trait characterized by difficulties in recognizing internal emotion states, relates to emotion recognition more broadly and to theory of mind (ToM), the capacity to understand the internal state of others.
