Payroll Giving
Payroll giving is an easy and convenient way for employees to donate directly to the Irish Society for Autism from their salary.
Some companies already have an established payroll giving scheme in place, however if your company does not have one in place, you could suggest setting one up within your company. Most payroll systems can facilitate payroll giving.
Once a system in place, fill in this form and bring it to your payroll department. You choose how much you would like to donate. If you donate €250 or more over the course of a year (or €21 a month), the Irish Society for Autism can claim a refund of tax paid on that donation, making your donation go even further. See below for more details.
Tax Efficient Giving
The Irish Society for Autism is an approved body under Revenue’s Charitable Donation Scheme. This means that if an individual donates €250 or more in a year, the Society can claim a refund of tax paid on that donation (the specified rate of tax is currently 31%).
That means that if a person donates €1,000, that only makes up 69% of the donation. To calculate the relief, the amount is grossed up as follows: (€1,000 ÷ 69) x 100 = €1449.27. Meaning the Society can claim a refund of an additional €449.27 on the €1,000 donated.
In order to assist the Society in claiming tax relief on the donation, the Irish Society for Autism will need the donor to complete either an Enduring Certificate – CHY3 Certificate (valid for a period of 5 years) or an Annual Certificate – CHY4 Certificate (valid for a period of 1 year) and return it to the Irish Society for Autism.
