Our Board

The Irish Society for Autism is governed by a voluntary Board of Directors who are responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the organisation. The Board does not receive a salary and give their time free of charge. Our Board members are Liam Collins, Jane Hayes, Nuala Matthews, Sheila Collins, Dermot Halpin, James Hayes, Fred Casey and Shane Gogarty.

 

Our Board is guided by the philosophy of the Irish Society for Autism, which is set out below.

A world where the rights, entitlements and aspirations of Autistic people are enforced, accepted and respected.

  • To ensure the rights of autistic people are observed and respected including those as set down in the European Charter of Rights for People with Autism.
  • A recognition of the entitlement of all autistic people to participate in the development of society in accordance with their individual capacity and dignity as human beings.
  • To ensure that Autistic people and their families have access to information, support and services which they may require throughout their lives.
  • To ensure that people with autism are accepted as citizens in their own right and are empowered to live their lives as valued members of the community.

The Irish Society for Autism relies on support from the general public, it’s donors and supporters. Our pledge is to treat all our donors with respect, honesty, and openness, while protecting their privacy and data.
