Second/Foreign Language Learning: Exploring the experiences and sense of efficacy of learners with Autism.

Michelle Tuohey is a Trainee Educational and Child Psychologist, at Mary Immaculate College, Limerick. She has to complete the Professional Doctorate in Educational and Child Psychology and is undertaking research which focuses on teenagers with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Michelle, would like to invite learners at post-primary school to consider participating in this research. It is asked that the learners would have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder, of which they are aware, and are learning a second/foreign language, for example, Irish or Spanish. Learners would be invited to engage in a short interview. This interview would explore the learner’s sense of efficacy learning a second/foreign language and their language learning experiences.
This short interview can be facilitated virtually, or in person through school.
For those under 18 years of age, parental/guardian consent is required, alongside the learner’s assent.
