Autistic Perspectives on Terminology use within the Autistic Community.

Chloe Bissett is an MA Linguistics and Applied Linguistics student at UCD. Chloe is conducting a study on the use of language terminology in the autism community as it pertains to the Irish adult experience. Her survey aims to understand adults’ understanding and attitudes towards these selected terms and how they enhance their experience.

The aim of this research is to investigate the perspectives held by autistic adults in relation to the use of terminology associated with their community. The focus is being placed on the autistic adult, this study aims to offer the clear language preferences of Irish autistic individuals that can be applied in broader contexts

Who is invited to participate: Any Autistic adult who has been residing in Ireland for longer than 3 years with a formal autism diagnosis from a medical professional is invited to participate in this study.

If you agree to participate in this study you will be asked to complete a 15 minute questionnaire in relation to language use.
