A Qualitative Exploration of Autistic Adolescent Girls’ Friendships

Please read the below information regarding research that you may wish to participate in:

Olivia Lennox is a doctoral researcher and trainee psychologist in University College Dublin and is studying the Professional Doctorate in Educational Psychology.

Olivia is conducting qualitative interviews with autistic girls aged 12-18 years of age about their perspectives and experiences of friendships. Olivia is conducting this study to learn more about how autistic teenage girls experience friendships. She is interested in what friendship means to autistic girls, what they might enjoy or find difficult about friendship. By taking part in this research, it will inform families, schools, and services about how best to support friendships among autistic teenage girls.

Your teenager is invited to take part in this research study. Participation in this research is voluntary. If you decide you want her to take part, please sign the consent form below:

Your teenager will be invited to one interview lasting no more than one hour. A parent or guardian must be available for the full interview either outside or inside the room, whichever she prefers. She can choose between an online Zoom meeting or in-person interview in a HSE centre. Details of the interview can be emailed to her beforehand.

Taking part is completely voluntary. You can stop at any time. You do not need to give a reason. Your information can be deleted if you stop. After 14 February 2027, your information cannot be removed because it will no longer be linked to you.
