Please read the below information regarding research that you may wish to participate in:

You are being invited to take part in this research project being carried out by a student of Ulster University as part of their MSc in Advancing Practice (Computed Tomography).

Róisin Sheridan is a MSc student, studying Advancing Practice in Diagnostic Radiography (Computed Tomography) with Ulster University and is conducting a research study on An examination of the opinions of parents of Autistic patients on patient experiences of diagnostic radiography examinations.

This research will seek to examine the experiences of autistic patients who have attended a radiology department for imaging exams. The aim of the study is to identify positive and negative areas of practice. The findings of this research will help improve the services provided by radiology departments for patients with autism; identifying useful tools and techniques to improve patient pathways and practice.

Roisin is seeking participants who are parents/guardians (i.e. adults aged 18+) of patients with Autism. These patients must be aged 6 or over, and have attended an Irish hospital or imaging centre for medical imaging within the last three years.

If you agree to participate in this study you will be asked to complete a short online questionnaire (which will take approximately 20 minutes to complete). Instructions on how to complete the questionnaire will be provided by the research team. If any of the questions or statements are unclear, you can ask for support and guidance by contacting a member of the research team.

A follow-up interview will be completed with up to ten of the participants who have completed the questionnaire study. You will be asked as part of the questionnaire whether you would like to participate in these interviews. Completing the first part of the study does not guarantee selection for the second part of the study – the participants will be selected from those who indicate their interest in participation.

it is completely your choice to decide whether or not to participate. If you decide to take part in this research, you will indicate your consent by commencing the questionnaire. You may withdraw from the study at any time, without giving a reason by contacting any member of the research team.
