Autism-related language preferences

U21 Autism Research Network – a network of Autism researchers across 6 continents, are aiming to address issues of diversity and inclusion in Autism research. They are recruiting for a study that explores the Autism-related language preferences of Autistic people across the globe.

By understanding the language preferences of Autistic people in Ireland, they can ensure that citizens, researchers and Governments use the terminology that is most preferred in Ireland, thus promoting greater harmony and acceptance.

Summary:

The study aims to further the understanding of Autism-related language preferences of Autistic people across the globe. This is because it’s really important for the world to know how is best to talk about Autism.

Who can participate?

All Autistic adults (aged 18 +) are eligible to participate. Please note that people without a formal diagnosis of Autism but who self-identify as Autistic can participate too.

What’s involved?

Participants will be asked to answer some questions online about their Autism-related language preferences. The study should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. Further details can be found here.
