World Autism Awareness Day is an important date for the calendar each year as with each passing year the number of children with Autism increases; this increases the need for better awareness of Autism and also the need for services such as Dunfirth Farm.
The sixth annual World Autism Awareness Day took place on 2nd April 2013. To mark this special occasion the Irish Society for Autism held an International Conference which took place in the Dublin Convention Centre to coincide with the Irish Society’s 50 years providing services to people with Autism and their families. Speakers at the conference included Temple Grandin (Keynote Speaker), Ros Blackburn, Hilde de Clerq, Prof. Michael Fitzgerald, Rita Jordan, Theo Peeters, Paul Shattock and others. It was truly an inspiring event!
The residents and staff in Dunfirth Farm celebrated the day with a party and concluded with balloons being released to mark the occasion. A great day was had by all.
