The incidence of Autism Spectrum Disorders is rising in prevalence worldwide.  Kamila Janik from NUI Galway is conducting research to investigate some potential risk factors associated with this. They are interested in studying the differences in brain size that occur prenatally in the womb.

They would like to invite mothers of children diagnosed with ASD from the Galway area to get involved with this project. Participation in this study involves giving permission to view your ultrasound pregnancy scans that are stored in hospitals in the West of Ireland.  All information will be confidential.

Research Project “Sensory Processing and Activity Choices

The Middletown Centre for Autism are currently recruiting parents from Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland who have children aged between 4 and 11 years of age with Autism to participate in a research project entitled “Sensory Processing and Activity Choices”.

This study will assist parents and professionals in understanding the sensory preferences of children and how these affect their preferred activities at home and school.
